How are the pop ups showing up on Airbnb to sell unbookable nights? I’ve seen this on other listings to add a day at a special rate. How can I get this to show up when there is an orphan night?

I’m not quite sure I understand your question, as the guest wouldn’t be seeing the suggestions you’re referring to. And I don’t think you can program them through Airbnb. There might be some options for automating messages regarding the gap night upsell.
I was recently shopping for an Airbnb and a pop up came up on the listing offering an additional night for a special rate. This was before the booking sequence. I also just saw this recently on a couple listings while searching incognito mode in my area. I am wondering how the listings added this.

Ah, before the booking sequence! If I had to guess, I would say that they are maybe factoring in weekly discounts or length of stay discounts automatically. I am nearly certain that this is not a promotion that a host can simply add to their listing.
