Add a day on Airbnb

Are you referring to the suggestions that show up on your end of the message thread in the Airbnb app?

I’m not quite sure I understand your question, as the guest wouldn’t be seeing the suggestions you’re referring to. And I don’t think you can program them through Airbnb. There might be some options for automating messages regarding the gap night upsell.

I was recently shopping for an Airbnb and a pop up came up on the listing offering an additional night for a special rate. This was before the booking sequence. I also just saw this recently on a couple listings while searching incognito mode in my area. I am wondering how the listings added this. 

Ah, before the booking sequence! If I had to guess, I would say that they are maybe factoring in weekly discounts or length of stay discounts automatically. I am nearly certain that this is not a promotion that a host can simply add to their listing.

Ok Thanks for the reply. I only saw this on a couple of listings so I thought it was something the host had added somehow. 

It's Airbnb doing their own version of an upsell, pre-booking rather than post-booking. Especially if the guest’s initial dates are just shy of hitting a length-of-stay discount or a last-minute discount, they will highlight the potential savings to the guests to try to get them to change their dates.

I have a somewhat proprietary method for selling “full weeks” in a community that has a 7-night minimum… I set it up so that you pay the same price for the whole week, regardless of how many nights you book within the week. (It gets us search visibility for people who may not be searching for a full week, whereas the competition doesn’t even turn up in the search results.)

And the funny thing about this new upsell thing Airbnb is doing, is that when a guest goes to book for only four nights, Airbnb will say “Do you want to add 3 nights for $0.00?” FML LOL
