' "External" direct booking options

You might want to look into Wander. They have an option where they are essentially the “direct booking” engine.

​@Eli Stoughton funny you mention them... I looked into them a couple days ago. They only cover California and Florida, and you need to be pretty high-end and need to promise to stock a laundry list of fancy stuff including a specific kind of Nespresso machine.

​@Tom Beerley they have two products 1. Wander website which is like an OTA where you show up in their search results. Take rate is higher and there may be brand requirements. WanderOS which is meant to be your direct booking engine. Higher take rate than Direct Basic. You wouldn't show up in their search results.

​@Eli Stoughton Thanks for pointing that out… I dug into it some more, and you’re right, there are two very different things. Being listed as “A Wander” has a lot of prerequisites, but they do have a “WanderOS” direct booking engine that doesn’t seem to have too many restrictive criteria. I’m signed up on their trial at this point, and connected to Hospitable, but so far I’m not seeing any evidence that they handle tax remittance like Direct Premium does. I’ll report back here if I learn otherwise. If nothing else, though, it’s a beautifully designed direct booking site that could probably be an alternative to Direct Basic (until Hospitable makes good on the promise to modernize their site design templates ;-)
