The wi fi porter which is an integration from Hospitable seems to no be banned by air bnb. What is the work around for this. Obviously collecting e mail is a vital component to building a direct booking business.

I feel like this was inevitable. They clarified the requirement of having hosts only ask for email addresses for a specific requirement such as legal, HOA, or building security policies. And now they have moved this over to include WiFi portals and third-party apps. So we just need to mention which requirement it relates to in the listing so the guest isn’t surprised by it.

But whether you are using the integration partner you mentioned or using StayFi or BetterSTR, it seems like the requirements will be the same across the board and it will also apply to any guest verification service.

But how will they know?

I would imagine that if you have a WiFi portal that requires an email address, and if you either haven’t disclosed it in your listing or if you don’t have a legal or HOA requirement to do so, and your guest subsequently complaints to Airbnb about this that Airbnb could either 1. let the guest cancel penalty-free or 2. kick you off of Airbnb.

Furthermore, I would imagine that if the guest complains directly to you in the app that the app my prompt them to contact Airbnb Support.
