Local municipality tax remittances with new VRBO

I haven’t been able to find the answer in community or this group on other posts.

I see that with the new VRBO, Hospitable will remit taxes to Kentucky, but I am unclear whether or not they will remit the city taxes that VRBO has historically remitted as the MOR.

Can anyone confirm? I have 2 properties in 2 different cities and I must collect 3 & 4 percent taxes respectively for these properties for local STR tax over and above state taxes.

Hi @Marc Mullins!

Currently, Hospitable remits the following taxes in Kentucky:

  • Kentucky State Sales Tax
  • Kentucky Transient Room Tax

If there are additional county or city lodging taxes, at this time, they will be charged on the booking (as applicable) and be pass-through to you with the payout to file and remit with the respective jurisdiction. This would be for Direct Premium and VRBO Partner Integration bookings and upsells purchased through Hospitable where Hospitable is the Merchant of Record and payment processor.

We are working to expand our local tax remittance as quickly as possible to pair with VRBO remittance and ease the burden of tax remittance for our users. While I do not have an exact timeline on when that will occur, the local taxes are the main priority for registrations.

Thank you. This unfortunately is a significant barrier to adopting VRBO integration, because they currently provide this remittance on our behalf.
