How ranks and badges work in Community

If you've seen small titles or badges next to someone’s name in the Community, they’re not random. They're part of a lightweight system we use to highlight contributions and give a bit of shape to how people grow within the space.

Here’s how it works.

Rank: a long-term signal of participation

Your ranking is tied to your overall activity and consistency in the Community. It shows up next to your name whenever you post or comment, and is meant to reflect how active and involved you are over time.

As you participate more; replying to others, starting discussions, reacting to other hosts’ posts, you’ll see your rank change.

Here’s the path:

New Member → New Participant → Participating Frequently → Known Participant → Inspiring → Top Contributor → Hospitable Hero

Note: We are not publishing the exact criteria on purpose, as the goal is to encourage authentic engagement, not gamed behavior.

Badges: recognizing specific contributions

Badges are different from rank. They’re not about how long you’ve been around or how often you post; they’re a way to recognize specific actions or milestones.

Some badges are earned through a combination of activity within the Community. Others are given under special circumstances, for example:

  • Early founding members of the Community
  • $HOST Investors
  • Partners who joined the platform
  • And so on

There will be more badges available as the Community grows and evolves.

Why we use this

We’re building a space that’s collaborative and shaped by our hosts. Ranking and badges simply help recognize and highlight hosts that consistently contribute.

And there’s more coming.

In the near future, we plan to reward top contributors more tangibly by granting $HOST tokens each month to the top 10 ranked community members.

The leaderboard will help us recognize most active hosts, especially in the early stages.

Over time, we’ll also add points for contributions outside the Community, such as:

  • Mentoring fellow hosts
  • Leading local chapters
  • Organizing Hospitable community events
  • Referring other hosts to join us
  • And more

Our goal is to support hosts who support others, and build a community that's owned by those who help it grow.

No need to chase points. Just show up, be helpful, share what you know, and ask what you're curious about. 💜
