Guest vetting just got smarter and faster for returning guests

Hi all,

We’ve rolled out several improvements to Guest Vetting over the past few weeks.

The goal is simple:

  • Faster verification for good guests

  • No repeat ID checks for returning guests

  • Clearer signals when something about a booking needs attention

Here’s what changed.

 

Returning guests don’t need to verify again on Direct Premium

If a guest has already completed identity verification with you before, they won’t need to go through the same process again.

When they book again:

  • Their previous verification can be reused

  • They can move through the booking flow faster

This works across:

  • Instant bookings

  • Booking requests

  • Custom quotes

What this means for you

  • Faster booking for trusted repeat guests

  • Less friction during checkout

  • A smoother experience for guests who already stayed with you

 

Fewer false alarms when names don’t match perfectly

In life, guest names don’t always match their ID exactly. People use nicknames. They skip middle names. Sometimes there’s a small typo when booking.

Guest Vetting is now much better at recognizing when these small differences are perfectly normal.

For example, it now handles cases like:

  • Nicknames instead of legal first names: Abby → Abigail

  • Missing middle names: Tom Herrmann → Tom Kay Herrmann

  • Shortened names: Matt → Matthew

  • Small spelling mistakes: Jonh → John

What this means for you

  • Fewer unnecessary verification steps

  • Faster bookings for legitimate guests

  • A smoother experience during checkout

 

Clearer signals from guest email addresses

We’ve added an additional check that looks at whether a guest’s email address appears valid and reliable.

This helps identify email addresses that may be:

  • Undeliverable

  • Temporary or disposable

  • Formatted incorrectly

What this means for you

When reviewing a booking, you now get more helpful signals about the guest details provided, making it easier to decide how to proceed.
