Hello, it would be convenient if there was a sandbox or playground to try and test the MCP, I want to test specific replies workflows with MCP but I can’t do that with real guests.

Some sort of virtual guest where we can customize the messages, in my specific case is an automated guest access pass generation, I request them a photo ID and they send it, then I create their access pass that they show at the entrance.

Hi @user3452, thanks for the suggestion. I do not think the team is planning to create a sandbox environment for testing, but one option could be testing it through a manual booking instead.

Thanks for the response, can you please elaborate more on the manual booking option?

Hi @user3452,

Happy to elaborate. A manual booking is a reservation you create yourself directly in Hospitable; it isn't tied to Airbnb, Vrbo or Booking.com, so no real guest is involved and nothing gets pushed to a channel. That makes it a safe way to simulate a reservation and exercise your MCP workflows end-to-end.

Here's how you can use it for testing:

  1. Block off a test property (or a test date range). If you can, dedicate one listing (or just pick a far-future date range on an existing one) so you don't accidentally collide with real bookings.
  2. Create a manual booking on that property: Calendar → click the dates → Add manual booking. Enter a fake guest name and email (use an inbox you control so you can see the guest-side messages), set the dates, and save. Full steps here: How to Create & Alter a Manual Booking.
  3. Trigger your MCP workflow against it. The manual booking shows up in the inbox and reservation list just like a real one, so any MCP tool that reads reservations, sends messages, updates the guest thread, etc. will work against it. You can send messages back and forth from the guest email to test reply flows.
  4. Clean up when you're done by cancelling the manual booking (manual bookings in the future can be cancelled from the reservation page).

A few caveats to be aware of:

  • Manual bookings don't simulate channel-specific behavior (Airbnb/Vrbo/BDC quirks, channel-side messages, payouts via the OTA, etc.), so they behave like a Direct-style reservation inside Hospitable.
  • Automated messages and rules will fire on a manual booking, so if you don't want your real automations to message your test "guest," either pause those rules or use a property with no automations attached.
  • Any financials/payouts on the manual booking are just internal records; no real charges occur unless you explicitly set up a payment.

I hope this helps. 💜
