Hey there, @emilymorgan.I’ll attach the thread below where hosts are discussing welcome gifts, and someone mentioned a magnet with a QR code to their Direct site that might be helpful for you. 😊
What an awesome idea—this is next-level marketing for an Airbnb.
I’m especially loving the concept of turning fridge magnets into a small guest gift they can take with them. Something simple, but memorable—and if it includes a QR code that links back to your direct booking site, it becomes a really smart way to stay connected after checkout without feeling pushy.
It’s one of those things guests might actually keep on their fridge, which means your property stays top of mind for future trips or referrals. That’s a win.
If anyone here is currently doing this, I’d love to see some photos of your magnets and how you’re designing them. Seeing real examples would be super helpful and could spark some ideas for creating our own version—layout, branding, QR placement, messaging, all of it.
Such a clever idea!! useful as a small token, but also a gentle way to keep the direct booking site visible after checkout. I’d love to see examples too, if anyone feels like sharing.
@JottoGo_Jamie @emilymorgan While the world is increasingly digital, sometimes when people are on vacation they like to unplug a little bit and may even bring along a hard copy of a book to read. We've created custom bookmarks for each of our properties that have our direct booking site and some memorable phrase and imagery of the home they're staying in. And we remind them to take one if they'd like when they depart.
@chrisryanjohn I especially like the idea of providing this as a gift. Around the holidays we've done custom tree ornaments and they've certainly been appreciated. On the back is our QR code.
Great idea with the magnets. One thing worth thinking about — where the QR actually points.
Most people link to their direct booking site. That works, but if the guest closes the browser, the contact is gone.
Step 1 — point the QR to WhatsApp instead The moment a guest scans it, your number lands in their contacts permanently — and you get their phone number. No forms, no opt-ins. A direct line that no OTA controls, long after checkout.
Step 2 — connect WhatsApp to an Una by Polydom AI employee If you want to go further: the guest scans the magnet at home three months later, messages at midnight, gets an instant reply in their language. Availability, questions, booking — handled automatically.
The magnet stays on the fridge. The contact stays on their phone.

Interesting away to approach it! I like it - but do worry that a scan does not give us permission to contact them for marketing purposes (unlike a lander that has opt-in language).

Good point. Though in this case the guest is messaging you first - they scanned the magnet and reached out. You're not cold-contacting anyone.
The magnet is passive. They come back to you when they're ready.
Our owners use Yada guidebook cover cards that scan the QR on the fridge or kitchen table to redirect to the guidebook / guest portal. Works great for contact info capture as well.
