Fun fact, but not funny...

I just got a guest's change request for a date. Confirmed at Booking.com. I assumed that booking was clever enough, not to forgive my holiday home twice as Airbnb and Hospitable does when changing requests.

But that was not the case. Booking.com does not check whether the period is busy or free, when a change request comes.

What a nonsense-bug 😥 a world leading booking system cannot check if something has already been booked and offers me to move the guest purely to this booked period.

So with every change request from a guest at Booking.com, you would have to see if the requested period is available.

Greetings from Germany

Stefan

So booking.com allows a guest to change the dates of their reservation even though those dates are not available on the calendar? That is genuinely terrible. Thank you for the heads up that it's up to hosts to validate that they request is even valid in the first place.

It seems like a a vestige of the fact that booking.com was built for hotels and will always will be a clunky retrofit for STRs.

Thanks @Stef  for bringing this up and informing fellow hosts. I’ve also shared it with our contact at Booking and will let you know if I hear back.

Hi @Stef!

Sorry that you ran into this issue, that’s frustrating! I work at Booking.com and am happy to look into this for you. Can you please send me an email at bookinghost.noram@booking.com with the reservation number, so I can further investigate?

Thanks so much!

Emily
