If I’m using hospitables dynamic pricing do I need price labs? Are they similar or is there a benefit I’m missing out on by not layer with pricelabs?

Hey there, @StephanieH. Great question! You don't necessarily need PriceLabs if you're using our dynamic pricing. Both tools serve a similar purpose—optimizing your rates based on market demand, seasonality, and other factors. Hospitable was designed with simplicity and has everything in one place. Other host prefer Pricelabs who want deeper control over their pricing strategy. Also, you can test side-by-side: Hospitable allows you to use dynamic pricing on some properties while keeping PriceLabs on others, so you can compare performance. Let’s hear what other hosts might say too! 😊

If you are using Hospitable Dynamic Pricing, then you don’t need Pricelabs.

Which one is better? I can’t answer because I didn’t try Hospitable Dynamic Pricing. 😅

Here Stephanie,

I’ve used both and there are some pros to each.  Certainly the pros to having a built in revenue management system inside of the calendar management suite of Hospitable is wonderful, and the ease of use is a 9/10.  Adding $0 to my Mogul plan is a 10/10.

Comparative strengths in Pricelabs is all about complexity in my opinion . . . for our ski area homes for example I like to run a seasonally varied strategy that uses vastly different Minimum Stay requirements for the shoulder seasons than for the winter or summer, which is easy to do in Pricelabs but not possible (yet) inside Hospitable.  Another fancy thing from PL that I’ve loved is the ability to have a dynamic EVERYTHING based on booking value, which is a fun tool to use (i.e. I don’t care how short the stay is if I make at least $1000 on the booking).

However, these things do add a great deal of complexity and I have multiple times had mysterious blocks and “situations” on my booking calendar that I suspect go back to the crazy amount of complexity that you can introduce on PL.  This won’t happen easily on the Hospitable platform.

Hope this is useful to you!

I agree with everything above. This is a very accurate summary.

Pricelabs won’t allow you to have both turned on for pricing. Pricelabs will stop sending updates to Hospitable
