We’ve heard of “companies” that do this and it’s usually shady approaches. One claimed they had “insiders” at Airbnb that would do it. They sometimes claim it’s guaranteed and you don’t pay until it’s gone...but then it magically reappears a week after payment.

In these cases we always use the rule “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is” @chrisghosn

We recently received an unfair review so I inquired with Airbnb about my options. The rep discredited the notion that anyone could access the backend of the platform. He did advise that hosts should always respond to reviews, both good and bad. For positive reviews, its a signal to the algorithm that you are an active and attentive host. For negative reviews, it allows you to counter inaccurate or unfair reviews, gives a boost in the algorithm, and can save you from receiving an autogenerated email from the platform requesting you to address “recent issues” with your listing.

Personally, I would not trust a third party to fool around with your listing. It could very likely trigger a flag to Airbnb and result in you being removed or your property buried. My experience with the platform is that they are quick to swing a hammer if user “trust” is in question. Don’t give them unnecessary reason to do so.

Keep providing a great experience for guests and positive results will naturally follow!

This was an old hustle where one guy would do the selling and they would have an insider that they would bribe to remove reviews from within airbnb. They really did work for a while, and it took airbnb a LONG time to give a crap, but i think this loop hole is probably closed. If you get caught doing this you can be in deep trouble.

Whats worse: airbnb’s review dispute feature sucks big time, its all AI. I have had seriously aweful review content violations not taken down.

Here are the options

  1. challenge the review in the review dispute feature
  2. WHEN they say it doesn’t qualify not if, challenge the decision
  3. WHEN they reject that you are technically out of choices so you then move on to writing a formal demand letter and sending it certified mail to airbnb’s legal team telling that you intend to pursue this in arbitration if they dont remove the review. This worked for me
