Custom domain emails for owners are live

Property Managers can now send certain owner emails from their own custom domain (the one used for the Owner Portal), instead of the default Hospitable domain.

This currently applies to a few specific events:
✉️ Email types covered:

  • Owner invitation (includes username and invite link)

  • Invitation reminder

  • Bank account setup (only if the business already has a bank account and the owner has accepted the invite)

  • Bank account verification reminder (only if a bank account has already been added)

 

⚙️ How it works:

  • We’ll try to use the domain configured for the Owner Portal.

  • If it’s a Hospitable-managed domain, we auto-add the needed DNS records, so everything should be good.

  • If it’s an external domain, we show a warning that it’s not yet configured for sending emails.

    • On the domain page, property managers will see the required DNS records so they can add them manually on their registrar.

    • We will add help articles for this, as the setup is a bit technical.

 

🎨 Templates & customization:

  • We provide default templates, but you can customize and save your own.

  • Shortcodes are available (names, links, etc.).

    • Particularly useful on bulk emails, when dealing with multiple owners. Will be available soon.

    • They’re not highlighted yet. We’ll improve that soon.

 

🔁 Fallback behavior:

  •  If sending from the custom domain isn’t possible, we fall back to the Hospitable domain.

  •  This is always made clear in the sending modal.

 

🔜 What’s next:
 We’ll be expanding this to more notifications like:

  • Statement / invoice published

  • Payout created

  • Password reset emails

  • More owner-related events

This is good news. It would also be great to have custom domain emails for the emails sent to Direct Basic guests.

Hi Eli, the guest messaging functionality is in the works as well - we’re starting with the owner part first.

I apareciste this. And would love to see a way to segment guests from all platforms total stays/repeat guests and a way to message all previous guests to sign up for promos or other types of communication.

Thank you very much for the feature, I've been waiting for it for a long time 😀 It was also easy to set up. It works for Owner Portal invitation links.

I also tested it for notifications for Owner Stays, but the old domain is still being used here. Is that correct, and when will it be changed here too?

I have a suggestion for improvement. On the page where you can adjust the settings, it would be great if you could send a test email to your own address. I’ve tested this using a workaround by creating a fake owner with my email address.

Agreed this is far more important. Owners we have regular communication with so it’s easy to explain the weird email address. Guests are often booking with already a little uneasyness on trust for direct so the spammy looking email right off the bat (and for someone we may have never even communicated with if they just book on the website on their own) is a much bigger deal.

Hello there. Glad to hear that!
That’s expected at this point, as the reservation communication still falls under the guest messaging functionality, even it it’s the property owner staying over 😁. We’re working on making this functionality available when it comes to guest messaging as well.

Very good suggestion!
We’ll keep on polishing the user experience, and have a few items on the list, but will add this one as well 👍🏻

Hi there! I apologize, I don’t fully understand the first part.

As for messaging guests, that’s in the works.
I don’t believe the part around sending automated messages/promos to previous guests is currently in our radar, but feel free to add a post for it on https://feedback.hospitable.com/. Thank you!
