Upsells for New Zealand, please! Otherwise I’ll sadly have to switch to another PMS in the near future as I am losing revenue opportunities.

I would still love to see pointcentral integration for locks. I have 27 homes now and we plan on being at 100 by summer and no lock control system is a key driver that may require us to switch pms. Right now we have toanage them all manually through pointcentral. Although I like hospitable this prevents me from being at scale.

Hi @NickR  — quick question. What lock hardware are you using, and are you managing anything beyond locks in PointCentral?

It would really help us to understand why you’re using PointCentral specifically for locks, and what you’re getting there that you don’t get through Hospitable today.

For context: we spoke with PointCentral last year and they wanted us to build and own a direct integration. We’re not opposed to that in principle, but it cuts against our current approach, which is to integrate with Seam and let them handle the device-level integrations (locks, thermostats, etc.). Supporting two parallel integrations — and coordinating support across third parties — gets risky for something this critical.

Any detail you can share would be appreciated. I’ll pass it straight to our product team.

@SJD heard! Have you checked out our marketplace partners that offer upsells in the short-term?

Thanks Derek!

Thanks for the response. The locks are Z-wave (Yale Assure 2), and then they use a pointcentral hub which is cell-tower connected so it’s not reliant on Wifi. The big benefit for us is 1) in remote areas if there is a power outage or wifi disruption, the locks still get their codes and function. 2) Z-wave is a must as the batteries last 3-4x longer than on Wifi directly.

Right now we are just using locks but some of our owners are interested in the thermostats as well.

So the origin of this is that we were originally going to use Streamline and Pointcentral is an integration partner with Streamline, but then I actually had a lot of concerns with Streamline and much preferred Hospitable, but at this point we have already invested significantly $7k into PC lock and hubs.

I have been testing smartthings integration for Z-wave at one house and it’s working well but it would require us to update 25+ homes now and it’s relatively complex at scale with smartthings, plus smartthings isn’t even supporting Z-wave on their newest hubs so what happens in the future?

That’s the overall logic here from my perspective, I just think Pointcentral (like Brivo, for example) are very much enterprise grade lock and access control systems and we plan to scale to 1000’s of homes in the next few years.

@Derek Jones Thanks :) I registered with The Host Co but after emailing them I found out they only offer USD. Can you recommend any others that offer NZD?

@SJD I would check out Happy Guest. I wasn’t sure if they offered payments in NZ but I chatted with their support and received this reply:

Hi Derek,

I understand you're asking about upsell payment support and the Happy Guest guest portal in New Zealand.

Yes, our Custom Upsells feature works through your existing Stripe account, so as long as Stripe supports payments in New Zealand, you can use our upsell functionality there!

Custom Upsells let you create your personal shop for selling experiences or items to guests - things like late checkouts, pool floaties, fridge stocking, bike rentals, or mid-stay cleanings. You control the pricing, approval settings, and guest experience, with everything processed through your existing Stripe account.

There's a 10% service fee for Custom Upsells to support your free Happy Guest account, and you can choose whether the guest pays this fee (added to their price) or you pay it (deducted from your payout).

Do you currently have a Stripe account set up that accepts payments in New Zealand?

This answer was composed by Professor H.G. SmartyPants, Happy Guest's AI Agent.
